The Snook Bluejays lost to Fayetteville 14-2 and 24-12 last Tuesday, March 19, dropping to 2-2 in district play. In game one, Snook gave up 8 runs in the first 2 innings before scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth.Fayetteville added 6 runs in the top of the seventh to complete the scoring.

The Lady Yeguas marched into Normangee on Friday, beating the Lady Panthers 15-6.Aubrey Flencher led the Somerville offense, going 3-of-4 from the plate, including two doubles, with three RBIs.

The Somerville Yeguas bounced back from a 15-2 road loss to Iola on March 19 with a 3-1 home victory on Saturday, improving to 1-3 in district play.In game 2 with Iola, the Yeguas broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning with 2 runs.

Caldwell’s Dylan Chapman placed second in boys singles at the Taylor Varsity Tournament last Wednesday.He earned the silver medal by making it to the championship match, where he fell to Cooper Womack 3-6, 1-6.Chapman began his run with an 8-0 win over C. Sandoval of Navasota.

Rain dampens spirits at Happy Skrabanek Relays

Due to the threat of inclement weather, Caldwell ISD officials altered the schedule last Thursday morning for its annual Happy Skrabanek Relays.The coaching staff and school officials moved the start time for the running events to 2 p.m.

Hornets get to 2-0 after Smithville, Taylor wins

The Caldwell Hornets are off to a 2-0 district start after a 2-0 home win over Smithville last Friday and a 10-7 road win over Taylor on Monday.Caldwell improved to 9-7-1 overall.Against Smithville, Caldwell broke a scoreless tie with one run each in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings.

Caldwell 7th-grade girls place second at CJH Relays

The Caldwell Junior High seventh-grade girls finished second in the team standings at the Caldwell Junior High Relays last Friday. The team earned 146 points to place second behind first-place Sealy with 232 points. Bellville was third with 96.5 points.

Somerville falls in two games to Fayetteville

The Somerville Yeguas fell to Fayetteville in two games last week, 13-2 at home on Wednesday, March 13, and 11-1 on Thursday, March 14.
