Hornet soccer falls to Taylor in final game

In the final game of the season for the Hornets, Caldwell fell to Taylor 3-1.The Hornets got on the board first. With 14 minutes left in the first half, Jeffry Tobias scored, assisted by Ben Jaimes.However, Taylor equalized right before the half.

Lady Hornets beat Centerville, Porter

The Lady Hornets added another two nondistrict wins last week, defeating Centerville 10-0 in five innings and New Caney Porter 6-1.On Tuesday, Caldwell hosted the Lady Tigers of Centerville, with Avery Smith in the circle for the Lady Hornets -- throwing a no-hitting and striking out 11 batters.

Hornets go 2-1-1 at Franklin Tournament

The Caldwell Hornet went 2-1-1 at the Franklin Tournament last week.Caldwell opened on Thursday, March 7, with a 1-1 tie with Centerville and defeated Fairfield 6-2. The Hornets lost to Franklin 7-2 and defeated Yoakum 6-0.

Caldwell golfers take third at Waller Tournament

The Caldwell boys and girls golf teams finished third last week at the Waller Tournament with some strong individual performances.The boys, playing on March 6, finished one stroke behind Brenham for second place with a score of 358.

Caldwell hosts tennis tournaments

Caldwell High School hosted its second varsity tournament last Thursday, and Cayden Zboril and Kylie Vogler placed third in mixed doubles for the home team.The duo had a bye in the first round, and then defeated Alana Grubbs and Roli Avila of Madisonville 8-1.

Lady Hornet track finishes fourth at Giddings Meet

The Lady Hornet varsity track team placed fourth at the Buff Relays 2024 in Giddings last week.Caldwell finished with a total of 89 points for fourth.Giddings won the girls varsity title with a total of 192 points. Bryan Rudder was second with 156, and Lockhart was third with 95.

Lady Yeguas fall to Burton, Mumford

The Lady Yeguas had a tough time against district opponents last week, falling to Burton on the road 10-0 and Mumford at home 16-2.Last Tuesday in Burton, Somerville was only able to muster two hits against the Lady Panther pitching.

Somerville boys compete at regional powerlifting meet

The Somerville boys powerlifting team finished in 13th place at the Boys Region 4 Division 4 Powerlifting Meet at Colmesneil High School last week.The Yeguas had a total score of eight points in the team standings.Rosebud-Lott won the team title with 28 points.
