CJH track runs at Giddings Meet

Last week, the Caldwell Junior High track team ran at the Junior High Buff Relays.7th-grade Boys* High jump: Nicholas Forbes, 4-4, fifth.Chris Hernandez of Navasota won this event with a height of 4-10.* Pole vault: Parker Smith, 6-6, fourth.

Brisco named as All-American SWC

Snook’s Jaycie Brisco was recently named to the All-American Southwest Conference team as a player for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor’s (UMHB) women’s basketball team.Brisco, a junior guard, was named Honorable Mention All-ASC and All-Defensive Team.

Snook loses two games at Somerville Tourney

The Snook Bluejays fell to Milano 16-1 and to Hempstead 5-4 on Friday, March 8, at the Somerville Tournament.Against Milano, Milano scored 4 runs in the top of the first, three in the second and 9 in the third for a 16-0 lead.

Yeguas fall to Milano, Hempstead at tourney

The Somerville Yeguas lost to Milano 9-1 and to Hempstead 17-0 last Friday at the Somerville Tournament.Against Milano, the Eagles scored 2 runs each in the top of the second and fourth innings and 5 runs in the top of the sixth, with Somerville scoring in the bottom of the sixth.

Hill, Kienow each earn Snook two individual golds at Koppers Relays

Snooks Miracle Hill and Dakota Kienow each earned two gold medals in individual events at last week’s Koppers Relays.Hill earned her golds in the discus and in the shot put, while Kienow placed first in the high jump and the triple jump.

Hornets go 2-2 at Caldwell Tournament

The Caldwell Hornets defeated College Station JV twice and lost twice to Lexington last weekend at the Caldwell Tournament.The Hornets, who also lost to Navasota 14-4 on Feb. 27 in Navasota, finished the weekend at 4-5 for the season.Caldwell defeated College Station JV 4-3 in game on Feb.

The Somerville Yeguas surrendered 3 runs in the bottom of sixth inning in a 10-9 loss at St. Joseph last Friday, March 1, in Bryan.The Yeguas fell to 1-3 for the season.The teams were tied 3-3 in the second inning, and Somerville led 7-5 after four innings.

Bluejays win Snook Track Meet

The Snook ISD Athletic Department hosted its annual Bluejay Relays, with the Snook boys keeping the trophy at home.The Bluejays won the team title with a total score of 284 points.Burton was second with 230, and Somerville was third with 177.

Lady Yeguas beat Iola to open district

Last Tuesday, the Lady Yeguas opened their district season with a 6-4 win over Iola at home.Emma Williams struck out 13 Lady Bulldog batters in the win.The game was tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the sixth when Jalynn Urbanosky singled to score Wendy Perez from second base to take a 3-2 lead.
