Last Saturday, a Texas Historical Marker was dedicated for Smith High School at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in the New Hope/Rita area.

The Black school has a rich history -- with a winning athletic program and high performing academics.

Rev. David Ayers began Saturday’s program with an opening prayer.
