POSGCD Board to discuss pending SLR litigation

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District Board was scheduled on Tuesday, March 11, to again consult with its attorney and to consider a settlement agreement in a lawsuit filed against them by SLR (Sandow Lakes Ranch) Property I, LP.
A HISTORICAL MARKER was unveiled in February 2023 for the Dabney Hill Freedom Colony. Burleson County Judge Keith Schroeder and Gloria Smith conduct the unveiling. Also pictured are Melynda Giesenschlag, Peggy Gaskamp Sanders, Sharon Prejean and Steve Tunnell. Both the church and the Ethiopian Star Lodge Masonic Hall No. 308 in Dabney Hill received grants to restore the buildings.

Arrest made in robbery of Somerville store

A Somerville man has been arrested on an aggravated robbery charge in connection with the Tuesday night, March 4, armed robbery of the Sunoco gas station on State Highway 36 South in Somerville, and Somerville police say an additional suspect is being investigated.

Burleson County jail passes state inspection

The Burleson Sheriff’s Office recently passed its surprise inspection of the county jail from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS).Chief Deputy Bill Rios said the jail was inspected by a TCJS staff member on Feb. 24, and they were notified that day that they had passed.
