Narro named District 9 Extension Rising Star

Burleson County’s Family & Community Health Extension Agent Holly Narro was named the district’s Rising Star Award Winner through the Texas A&M Agri Life Extension Employee program.

Lions Club Denim, Dinner, Dancing Gala set for Feb. 28

The Caldwell Burleson County Lions Club will host its fifth annual Denim, Dinner and Dancing Gala on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Caldwell Civic Center.The event will begin at 6 p.m. with social hour, with dinner served at 7 p.m. followed by dancing and both a silent and live auction.

Hospital board to rebid ER project

The Burleson County Hospital District Board of Directors has approved rebidding their emergency room renovation project.The board uanimously approved the rebidding at their Monday, Feb. 9, meeting with a goal of awarding a contract and beginning construction this year.

Area man charged in possession of child pornography

A College Station man was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 3, on a possession of child pornography charge following a Burleson County Sheriff’s Office investigation.Patrick Leif Stackhouse, 20, was charged and is now free on $50,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.

VFW meetingCaldwell’s VFW Post 4458 and its Auxiliary will meet on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the VFW Hall on State Highway 36 South.There will be a catered meal at 6 p.m., honoring the winners of the local Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy contests and the selected Teacher of the Year.

Chocolate, Champagne, Cake Walk this Saturday

The Friends of Caldwell Main Street will host their annual Chocolate, Champagne and Cake Walk on Saturday, Feb. 14, in downtown Caldwell.The event will kick off at 10 a.m. with registration in front of the city hall, on Echols Street, and include shopping, beverages and, of course, chocolate.

County awards CR 119 bridge projects contract

Commissioners awarded a contract to Wakefield Bridge of Wharton for the upcoming County Road 119 projects, including the repair of the Davidson Creek Bridge and the replacement of the Davidson Creek Relief Bridge.
