Winter storm grips Burleson County

A winter storm hit Burleson County last weekend, bringing an icy mess and bitter cold -- shutting down schools, businesses and local government offices as well as keeping drivers off roads and causing power outages.Officially, the county saw 1.8 inches of precipitation of a rain-freezing rain mix.

Snook OKs sewer project change orders

The Snook City Council has approved some contract change orders to a major wastewater collection system improvements grant project, adding $75,086 in costs to one of the contracts.

Somerville, Deanville respond to grass fires

Somerville and Deanville volunteer firefighters responded last week to grass fires prompted by controlled burns of brush piles that got out of control.The first was on Wednesday, Jan. 14, on State Highway 36, burning about 1.5 acres, and then on Saturday, Jan. 17, on F.M.

Man arrested on assault warrant

A 33-year-old Caldwell man was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 15, on a felony charge of assault with a previous conviction in connection with a Jan. 10 incident at a home on County Road 322.

Grass fire at Beaver Creek burns 3/4 of an acre

A brush pile burn that got out of control burned about threequarters of an acre and got into a wooded area on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 17, on Overlook Drive at Beaver Creek.The fire was quickly contained by Beaver Creek firefighters with no structural damage.

Caldwell man charged, arrested in assault case

A 26-year-old Caldwell man was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 13, on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant in connection with an attack on a woman in October 2025.Stefivon Andrew Jackson was charged and is now free on $15,000 bond, according to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.
