Betty was called to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 6, 2025.
She was born on July 20, 1944, to John E. and Lydia (Sefcik) Stefka in the Bryan Hospital.
Betty was raised on a dairy farm where she learned about outdoor chores with which she needed to help, but her favorite time was spent reading books.
She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1962 and was active in many activities.
Betty was elected President of the Future Homemakers of America Club and also voted the “Most Courteous” student of her class.
She attended Blinn College and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and also received her teaching certificate.
After teaching at Pasadena Business College, Betty taught business classes at Friendswood High School. She was later employed by Clear Creek ISD.
Betty was baptized and confirmed at the New Tabor Brethren Church.
She married the love of her life John Wayne Orsag also at the New Tabor Brethren Church.
After John graduated from Texas A&M, they made their home in Friendswood and became active members of Pasadena Brethren Church.
Betty loved the Lord and found joy in serving Him and others.
She attended the Unity Hus School Class in the summer of 1960. Betty served on the Hus Encampment Board of Trustees, served as secretary of Pasadena Mutual Aid Society and as the church pianist.
Betty and John enjoyed family and class reunions, Caldwell Kolache Festivals and attending as many musical events as they could find.
Taking trips to Branson, Missouri, for outstanding shows performed by famous stars was a must.
The highlight of their many travels they experienced was their trip to Germany and Switzerland where they cruised the famous Rhine River.
Their Alaskan cruise and Canadian tour were also enjoyable.
Betty’s loving personality for her family and friends, her thoughtfulness and kindness to all will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Her grandson Daniel will especially miss her attendance at his basketball games and fair exhibits.
Survivors include her beloved husband, John W. Orsag; her son, John Steven and wife, Kelly Orsag; her sister, Lillie Chafin; her grandchildren, Daniel Orsag, Alex Huertas and fiancée, Kaitlyn Hodges; a great-granddaughter, Camryn Huertas; two sisters-inlaw, Shirley Stefka and Rosalie Stefka; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
She was preceded by her parents; two brothers, Johnnie Stefka and Daniel Stefka; two sisters-in-law, Emily Hejl and husband, Bennie, and Joyce Floeck and husband, Col. Jesse C. Floeck III; and brother-inlaw, Harold Chafin.
