Funeral services for Bobbie Eugene Freeze, 86, of Caldwell were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell, with Pastors Richard Brunk and Skip Stutts officiating.

Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Freeze passed away on July 21, 2019, at his home in Caldwell surrounded by his family.

Bobbie was born on Oct. 17, 1932, to Grady Freeze and Annie Mae (Foutz) Freeze in Mooresville, N.C.

Mr. Freeze served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict in the U. S. Air Force with the 509th Air Refueling Group. He was a North Carolina State alum and a civil engineer by profession. He worked in the gas pipeline industry his entire career and received many accolades and awards from his peers.

He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a child and remained an active member of the Lutheran church throughout his life (first at St. Martin’s in Houston and then at Elizabeth Lutheran in Caldwell). He was at various times a Sunday school teacher, a member of the church council, and a member of building and other committees.

He was also very active in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He served as a little league baseball coach (and general umpire scold) for well over a decade, taking time off from his demanding career.

He also was an active member of the PTA for several years, serving one year as PTA President.

In his spare time, he was an above average golfer and hunter (we won’t push it too far), and he made mean barbecue ribs, although he was never totally satisfied with the end product.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Alice (Russ) Freeze; his parents; and his sister, Joyce Ann Morrow.

Bobbie is survived by sons, Mark Freeze and partner, Christopher Jovanelly of Phoenix, Ariz., Brian and Lisa Freeze of Houston, Texas, Trent and Jennifer Freeze of Caddo Mills, Texas, and Darren and DeAnn Freeze of Richmond, Texas; his daughter, Andrea Chrietzberg of Caldwell, Texas; his grandchildren, Justin and Kendall Freeze, C.W. and Aly Chrietzberg, and Caitlyn and Zachary Freeze; his brother-in-law, Danny and wife, Tammy Russ of Mount Ulla, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

The family asks remembrances be donated to the Elizabeth Lutheran Church Community Food Pantry.
