CHRISTINE MCCORKLE

A Celebration of her Life for Christine McCorkle, 72, was held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville, Texas.

Christine was born on Nov. 6, 1951, in Bryan, Texas, to Ernest Edwin Campbell, Sr. and Bess Tate Campbell.

Christine graduated from Somerville High School in 1970 and went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Physical Education from Texas A&M University in 1974 and later earned a Masters in Special Education from Prairie View A&M University.

She started her career as a teacher of special education and went on to work for Brenham, CyFair, Caldwell and Somerville Public School systems for 29 years.

Christine was married to Barney McCorkle on April 21, 2000, in Somerville, Texas.

She was unwavering in her unconditional love for her children.

She was opinionated and stubborn but always willing to listen to what others had to say.

She died on March 11, 2024, in Brenham, Texas.

Christine is survived by three sons; one daughter; two daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; two brothers; six grandchildren; numerous nephews; and one niece.
