Agraveside service for Godfrey Thomas Orbeck, known as “Tom,” was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at New Tabor Cemetery in Caldwell, Texas.
Tom was born on Feb. 18, 1944, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, to Godfrey and Agnes Orbeck.
While Tom’s father was in the Navy, his family moved every three years, and one year they moved to Texas. When his father retired, the family returned to Minnesota where most of his family lived.
Tom followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Marines.
After serving his time in the military, he went back to Minnesota. He decided to move to Texas because he did not like the frigid weather.
Afew of Tom’s hobbies were growing roses, reading, dancing and spending time with the people and animals he loved. He had three chihuahuas that he loved dearly.
He was also a member of the Cross Church in Seguin, Texas.
He died on Dec. 19, 2023. Tom is survived by his wife, Clara Orbeck; one brother; one sister-in-law; two nephews; two stepchildren; two stepgranddaughters; and one stepgreat-granddaughter.
