ISABEL CARDENAS

Isabel Cardenas, 106, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

A public visitation was held in her honor on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

Isabel was born on November 19, 1917, to Porfirio Cardenas and Perfecta Samano Cardenas in Matahula, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

She was a homemaker and also loved gardening and planting flowers in her yard.

She loved cooking and sewing quilts and outfits for her grandchildren.

She worked at Keller Chair plant for 19 years.

Isabel practiced her Catholic Faith at home.

Isabel was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Lillie M. Porter and Maria E. Duron and her husband, Jerry M. Duran; her grandchildren, Crystal Garza, Adolfo Gonzales; as well as her two sons-in-law, Marcos Vega, Sr. and Adolfo Guerrero.

She is survived by her children, Guillermo Lugo of Caldwell, Texas, Genaro Lugo of San Jose, California, Arthur and Mary Pecos of Kingsville, Texas, Jimmy and Wendy Pecos of Vista, California, Rosa Vega, of Hearne, Texas, Nick and Julie Pecos, of Bryan, Texas, and Martha Garza of Spring, Texas, and Randy Porter of New Caney.

Isabel was a loving grandmother of 25 grandchildren as well as 30 great, great grandchildren. Her loving spirit will be dearly missed.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be Nick Pecos, Jr., Scotty Vega, Marcos Vega, Jr., Tommy Olivarez, Wesley Jackson and Alex Olivo.
