Jerry was born on October 18, 1951, in Bryan, to Bryce and Dorothy (Winslow) Evans.
On August 12, 1972, he married the love of his life, Pamela Christie Evans, and together they built a beautiful life and raised two wonderful daughters, Lesli and Lindsay.
He opened Evans’ Screen Shop in 1978 in a small building in Smetana where he had learned the trade while working for Butler Building Products.
Later, he began working for Texas A&M University, where he spent 22 years of dedicated service and formed many lifelong friendships.
Following his retirement from Texas A&M, he returned to his passion for building screens up until his illness.
After retirement, he truly lived life to the fullest, traveling in his RV with Pam and his faithful riding buddy, Winston, in the passenger seat, often joined by Billy and Ann as they explored mountain ranges across the country.
Some of his favorite times were spent fishing on Lake Somerville with his cousins, Russell, Connie and RJ Evans.
Jerry’s final years were marked by both struggle and incredible strength.
After being diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in December, 2021, he faced each day with grace and perseverance, undergoing a double lung transplant in August, 2023.
His unwavering faith and the love of his family carried him through the hardest days. He showed extraordinary strength, faith in Christ, and love for his family until the very end.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bryce and Dorothy Evans; his brother, Billy Evans; his in-laws, Lamar and Margie Christie; and his sister-in-law, Cathy Demottier.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pam; daughters and sonsin- law, Lesli and Chris Gomez of Caldwell and Lindsay and Gary Krueger of Deanville; and his three treasured granddaughters, Kyleigh Gomez, Kamryn Gomez, and Alison Krueger, who lovingly called him Pa-Paw. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ann Evans; her daughters, Lisa (David) Bishop and Libby (Greg) Titzman; sister, Brenda Weatherford and her daughters, Kendra (Joe) Garcia, Kayla Weatherford (Gerald Johnson), and Kristan Weatherford (Jerry Conaway); along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Jerry will be remembered for his warm smile, his kind heart, and the way he always put his family first. His love for life and his quiet strength will continue to inspire everyone who knew him.
