M.R. “Mert” Way, 90, of Somerville, arrived in heaven on July 23, 2023, after passing from this life peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Maurice Richard Way was born October 17, 1932, in Morton, Texas, to parents, Raymond and Larue Way.

Marshall Allen Harrell II was born on October 22, 1934, in Washington D.C. He passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023, in Austin, Texas. Marshall grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and attended Alamo Heights schools.

Lucille Farr was born on Feb. 24, 1950, in the Mount Zion community in Caldwell, Texas. Growing up in the Mount Zion community was full of love and laughter. Lucille was affectionately known as “Pokey” by all that knew and loved her.

Joyce completed her earthly journey and went to join the Lord on August 3, 2023. She was born in Caldwell, Texas, to Joe Harold Siptak and Mary Maresh Siptak on November 26, 1930. She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1948.

Carson Rex Tallent

Carson Rex Tallent, 98, of Caldwell went home to his heavenly Father on July 23, 2023 Rex, a student at Southeast Missouri State, eagerly joined, and upon graduation the Navy commissioned him as an ensign.

Glen Alan Rathjen

Glen Alan Rathjen passed away on July 23, 2023. A visitation was held on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat. Glen Rathjen was born on May 10, 1967, to Alphine and Annie Rathjen.

CLARENCE “NICK” NICHOLS

A graveside service for Clarence Ray “Nick” Nichols, 79, of Belton, was held at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville, Texas. He died on June 25, 2023, at his home. He was born on Feb. 4, 1944, in Baytown, Texas, to Hubert Nichols and Edna Kettrick.

DOROTHY BENTKE

Dorothy Bentke, 88, of Caldwell passed away on July 19, 2023. Dorothy was a vivacious woman who loved to go dancing with the Happy Feet Club. When she wasn’t tearing up a dance floor she enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, playing dominoes and volleyball.
