A HUGE UPSET When I picked the #16 Texas A&M Aggies to pull off a 31-27 upset of the #8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, I had no idea it would be even more highscoring than that!I was right about the upset, but not quite on the final score as A&M pulled out a last-second touchdown to win 41-40.

Lady Jays finish 7th at Lexington

The Lady Jays finished seventh in the team standings at the Lexington Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.Snook had an overall score of 189.Giddings won the team title with a score of 22. Riesel was second with a score of 75, and Granger was third with a score of 85.

Snook drops to 0-3 in 50-8 loss to Normangee

The Snook Bluejays struggled in a 50-8 road loss to Normangee last week that included a long delay in the second quarter as Jimmy Kearney was taken from the field by ambulance after an injury.Team members huddled nearby and prayed for Kearney as medics helped him at the scene.

Lady Hornet JV goes 2-0 last week

The Lady Hornet JV volleyball team won both of their matches last week, defeating New Waverly 25-14, 2522, and Anderson Shiro 25-23, 25-22.

CHS’ Ellis, Caldwell grad Trnka win Kolache Krunch again

Caldwell High School cross country runner Spencer Ellis won last Saturday’s Kolache Krunch 5K for the second year in a row.The runner adorned in a colorful pink tutu finished with a time of 17:25, ahead of his CHS running teammate Landon Vykukal, placing second with a time of 18:12.

Hornets falter in 64-35 road loss to Jarrell

Despite a strong offensive showing, the Caldwell Hornets surrendered 740 rushing yards in a 64-35 road loss to Jarrell last week.Caldwell fell to 1-2 overall with a road trip to Smithville coming this Friday.

During an amazing 20-kill match on Friday, Caldwell senior Reese McManus earned her 700th career kill as a Lady Hornet.As of press time, the outside hitter had 247 kills for the season and 701 kills in her threeyear career on the Lady Hornet varsity squad.
