CHS boys take 3rd, girls 5th at Cameron Tourney

The Caldwell Hornets boys golf team placed third and the Lady Hornets placed fifth last week at the Cameron Tournament.The boys scored 358 on Monday, March 2, at the Cameron Country Club, and the girls scored a 459 on Tuesday, March 3 at the same location.

Lady Jays fall to Trinity, Bremond

The Lady Jays had a tough last week, losing to both Trinity and Bremond by 10 or more points per game.Last Tuesday, March 3, Snook hosted Trinity, falling 16-6.Madison Davis led Snook at the plate, going 2-for-3 -- including a double in the second inning -- and scoring two runs.

Snook loses road games to Bremond, Abbott

The Snook Bluejays lost two road games last week to Bremond 15-1 on March 3 and to Abbott 13 on March 6.Against Bremond, Snook scored its lone run in the top of the first inning while surrendering 3 runs through the first 2 innings and 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Faust wins state Pitcher of the Week

Caldwell High School senior Chase Faust was named statewide Pitcher of the Week for Class 4A by Texas High School Baseball last week for his part in pitching a combined no-hitter on Feb. 27 in a 1-0 win over Bridge City, the state’s number three team in 4A.

Lady Yeguas fall to Anderson-Shiro

The Lady Yeguas were on the road last week, losing to Anderson-Shiro 7-2.Both of Somerville’s runs came in the first inning.Abigail Richardson began the game with a triple to right field.Richardson scored by stealing home with Hadley Howe at the plate.

CJH competes at Giddings

The Caldwell Junior High track team competed at the Giddings Junior High Buff Relays on March 5.7th-grade Girls The Caldwell seventhgrade girls won the team title with a score of 239 points.Giddings was second with 197 points, and Valor South Austin Middle School was third with 88.

Lady Hornets win final two non-district games

The Lady Hornets won their final two non-district games last week.Last Tuesday, March 3, Caldwell hosted Killeen Chaparral, easily beating the Lady Bobcats 19-3 in three and a half innings.Samone Clark hit two homers, had five RBIs and was 3-for-3 to lead the Lady Hornets at the plate.

Somerville hosts area athletes at Koppers Relays

Many local track and field athletes competed at last week’s Koppers Relays, including those from Caldwell, Snook and Somerville high schools.The individual event results were: Varsity Boys* 100-meter dash: Korbin Burns, Caldwell, 11.11, first; Daxton Towler, Caldwell, 11.

Somerville goes 1-3 at home tournament

The Somerville Yeguas went 1-3 last week at the Somerville Classic Tournament, defeating BVCHEA Home School in the first game and then losing to Brentwood Christian, Frassati Catholic and Holland.
