SISD adds Top 10% to graduation honors

Somerville High School graduates may now be honored by being in the Top 10% of the graduating class.During Wednesday’s Somerville School Board meeting, the board approved revising its policy regarding honor graduates to include a Top 10%.

A Caldwell man was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 14, on a felon in possession of a firearm warrant in connection with a July 19 incident on Magnolia Drive in Cade Lake.

Burleson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the burglary of a home on County Road 324 in which $19,850 in property was stolen and $5,000 in damage occurred.The home has been vacant for the last six months, and the owners discovered the damage and reported it on Wednesday morning, Aug.

Man charged in attack on woman

A 43-year-old Deanville man was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 14, on a injury to the elderly charge in connection with a July 29 attack on a 73-year-old woman. David Scott Stark was charged and remains in Burleson County custody on $25,000 in bonds, according to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.

POSGCD board doubles ACP pay

In other business at the Aug. 13 meeting, the board reviewed the results of surveys on its district programs and voted to increase the sign-up incentive for landowners for the Aquifer Conservancy Program (ACP) from $25 per acre to $50 an acre.
