Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Lopez Sr., 59, of Caldwell, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.

Visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. on Friday Nov. 20, 2020, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell, with Rosary recited after.

Mr. Lopez died on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan.

Joseph was born on Nov. 3, 1962, in Caldwell, to Mary and Lucio Lopez Sr. Joseph was a loving family-oriented man.

He grew up with his family in Caldwell, and was proud to call it home and raise his children here.

He met the love of his life, Karen, on Christmas Eve in 1991, and on their first date told her, “I’m going to marry you.” They were married Aug. 15, 1992, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Somerville, Texas.

They have two children, Joseph and Britany, who were the pride of his life. He loved Joseph’s fiancée, soon to be wife, Karen Yvonne Rubio, whom he called his baby girl, and who brought him nothing but happiness in good times and bad. His grandchildren, Anna and Caden, completed his joy.

Joseph was a hard worker. He was a truck driver and loved his work. He always kept his truck so clean, other drivers liked to share the truck with him because it was always taken care of.

He loved the Cowboys and the Longhorns. He liked to call Cowboy-haters after a win and tell them “How ‘bout those Cowboys?”

He was an animal lover and loved all of his animals -- from the cats and dogs.

He loved his western movies, especially John Wayne movies. He also loved his war movies.

He loved spending time with his grandkids, Anna and Caden. He always took his family wherever he went. He loved watching his two kids grow up and being there for every little event and not missing any moments from football games to band events. Any special thing going on he was there. And he was there when we needed to talk.

He always was concerned about others and frequently called and texted people to check on them. He always helped anyone. He would drop anything to help someone in need. It didn’t matter when or where or how much, he was there.
