Mass of Christian Burial for Lydia Krenek, 101, of College Station was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in the St. Julienne of Liege Chapel in College Station.
Burial followed at College Station Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Krenek died on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the College Station Medical Center.
Lydia was born on June 8, 1918, in Frenstat.
A Burleson county native, she was a loving wife to Isadore (Ike) Krenek who preceded her in death, and a mother to her two children, Bernice and Stanley, and grandson, Wesley.
Lydia retired from Consolidated School and enjoyed being at her ranch in Wellborn with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Lydia’s family will miss her warm loving smile, sense of humor, advice and wisdom which came from her 101 years of life. She always welcomed all into her home with a smile and loved to prepare wonderful meals for all who came by, family members said.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Julia Matcek, Annie Krenek, Rosie Petrovalsky, Martha Shupak, and Mollie Shupak; and her brothers, Bill Shupak and Antone Shupak.
Lydia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and James Smolka, of College Station; her grandson, Andrew Wesley Riley Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Austin; her great-grandsons, Andrew Wesley Riley III (Tripp) and Levi Thomas; her great-granddaughters, Amelia Tate and Lexi Jane Riley of Austin; her son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Martha Jo Krenek; her granddaughter, London de la Teja and husband, Eddie; and great-grandson, Cru de la Teja of Austin.
