CHS bass fishing begins season in 8th

The Caldwell FFA Bass Club team began the season on Sept. 16, fishing at Lake Conroe. The team as a whole reeled in four fish to start the season ranked eighth in the Houston Division with a total weight of 11.41 pounds. Montgomery begins the season in the top spot with 13 fish, weighing in at 44.

Caldwell rallies, falls to Lexington 33-25

The Caldwell Hornets established a running game, largely with quarterback Coy Becka, and had a strong fourth quarter rally in a 33-25 homecoming loss last Friday against Lexington.

Hornet tennis cages Smithville Tigers 17-2

The Hornet tennis team hosted Smithville last Monday, easily winning the match 17-2. Caldwell dominated the doubles matches -- winning all seven matches, and going 10-2 in singles matches.

The Caldwell Junior High School volleyball teams have been busy over the past few weeks, playing Navasota on the road and La Grange at home.

The Caldwell freshman volleyball lost to La Grange on the road last Tuesday 18-25, 1525. Individual stats include: Emory Vollentine, three aces; Fawn McDaniel, one ace, one kill, six digs; Jolee Telschow, three kills; Alexa Drew, one ace; Kamryn Hill, one ace, two kills, seven digs.

Yeguas, Hornets run in Dale Keen Invitational

The Somerville and Caldwell cross country teams competed in Saturday’s Dale Keen Invitational in Cameron. Somerville’s Destiny Vela was the top varsity girl runner for Burleson County, placing 11th with a time of 14:37.00. Vela was the lone Lady Yegua in the varsity race.
