BC Machine Pitch 7-8 Year Old Softball All-Stars THE BURLESON COUNTY 7-8 year old machine pitch softball All-Stars won the Texas East District 13 tournament championship. The team includes Carly Sheppard #1, Braely Polasek #6, Karlee Praesel #3, Avery Balboa #9, Blakely Kemper #13, Bailey Barnes #00, Cambree Johnson #23, Kinzleigh Ortega #99, Jesenia Herrera #40, Marley Kocurek #14, Sheyanne Simons #8, and Olivia Zamora #75. They are coached by Robert Polasek, Adrian Sheppard, Jana Johnson, and Flo Ortega.

Somerville ISD is hosting a volleyball and basketball camp for future Lady Yeguas. The camp will be held June 27-29 from 10 a.m. until noon. The camp will be for current second through six-grade students at the Somerville High School Gym. Registration will be done on the first day of camp.

The Lady Hornet coaching staff is hosting a basketball camp for future Lady Hornets on June 19-21 in the new high school gym. Session 1 will be for third through six-graders from 10 a.m. until noon. Session 2 will be for seventh through ninthgraders from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $40.

Last Wednesday, the Lady Hornets opened the Giddings Summer Basketball League with a 30-23 win over the Giddings High School #1 team in the high school’s main gym. Caldwell held a 15-11 lead after the first half, and never fell behind.

Mathis named to TGCA All-State Track

The Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) recently released its All-State Track Team honorees, and Caldwell’s Ja’Asia Mathis was named to the Class 4A list. Last month, Mathis earned the bronze in the girls’ Class 4A long jump , leaping a distance of 18 feet 9.
