Snook Lady Jay volleyball player MacKenzie Groce was recently named to the The Texas Army National Guard and the Texas High School Coaches Association 2022-2023 Academic All-State Volleyball Team. Groce was a Second Team honoreee.

Snook finishes 1-4 at Caldwell Tournament

The Snook Bluejays went 1-4 at the Kolache Capital Invitational Tournament on Dec. 1-3 in Caldwell last week. The Bluejays defeated Danbury 51-50 in game one on Thursday, Dec. 1, before falling to Waller JV 55-39, Caldwell 62--37, Milano 52-45 and Mumford 67-35.

Hornets win three games at home tournament

The Caldwell Hornets went 3-2 last week at the Kolache Capital Invitational Tournament in Caldwell, with victories over Danbury, Snook and Waller JV. The Hornets lost to College Station JV and Aggieland Home School in the final two games. Caldwell, who also lost to Milano 42-39 on Nov.

Last week during the tournament in Caldwell, Novak scored 17 points against Waller and 18 points against Snook to be the Hornets’ leading scorer in those games. Also, against Waller, he pulled down six defensive rebounds and had two assists, two blocks and an assist.

The Somerville Junior High School girls basketball team fell to Burton 36-26. V. Hernandez led the Lady Yeguas with 11 points in the loss. Other scorers for Somerville were: J. Isom, seven points; G. Griffenstein, four points; E. Garza, two points; L. Ellis, two points.
