Burgess, Mowbray win THSBA

Caldwell High School FFA Bass Club members Collin Burgess and Paul Mowbray won the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament at Lake Somerville last Saturday. The duo caught five fish, totaling 18.45 pounds to win the title and a $2,000 scholarship.

Yeguas hold on for 14-13 win over Louise

The Somerville Yeguas defense got some big stops, particularly in the fourth quarter, as they held off a late rally for a 14-13 win last Friday in Louise. Somerville improved to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in district play headed into their homecoming game this Friday against 3-1 Snook.

Snook dominates in 52-6 win over Runge

The Snook Bluejays dominated with their running game with six different backs scoring in a 52-6 district opening win over Runge last Friday at homecoming. Snook, now 3-1 overall, ground out 308 rushing yards with no passing yards (just one incomplete attempt) and built a 39-0 halftime lead.

Caldwell HS hosts local cross country meet

The Caldwell girls varsity cross country team finished second at the Caldwell Invitational Cross County Meet last Saturday at Davidson Creek Park. The varsity girls finished with a score of 85 points, behind Giddings with 44 points. Lexington and Rockdale tied for third with 111 points.

Lady Jays fall to Mumford, Burton

The Snook Lady Jays had a tough week last week, falling at home to Mumford on Tuesday and to Burton on Friday. Against Mumford, Snook fell 10-25, 26-24, 18-25, 19-25. Snook was led at the net by Aubrey Becker with four kills and three blocks. She also had two aces.

Yeguas rally for come-from-behind 35-28 victory over Yorktown

The Somerville Yeguas rallied from 21-0 down in the first quarter and 2814 in the third quarter to defeat Yorktown in a 3528 shocker last Friday in the District 14-2A opener in Somerville.

Lady Hornet vball falls to La Grange, beats New Tech

In district play last week, the Lady Hornets were 1-1, losing to La Grange in straight sets and beating Manor New Tech in straight sets. Caldwell is now 3-1 in District 22-4A. Last Tuesday, the Lady Hornets hosted the Lady Leps, falling to La Grange 16-25, 1525, 13-25.

Snook loses to Milano in district vball opener

Last Friday night in Milano, the Lady Jays opened up district, losing to the Lady Eagles 9-25, 19-25, 20-25. Aubrey Becker led Snook with three kills and two digs. The Snook defense was led by Jadeyn Lara with eight digs.
