Yeguas wear down Runge for 28-12 win

The Somerville Yeguas controlled the line of scrimmage and used a strong running game to defeat Runge 28-12 last Friday in Runge.

Turner injured in 44-10 loss at La Grange

Caldwell quarterback Boone Turner was injured late in the third quarter of the Hornets 44-10 district road loss to La Grange last Friday and taken from the field on a stretcher after a long game delay.

Caldwell High School tennis falls to Center in Area round

The Caldwell tennis team had a great season. The team was a bidistrict champ, district runner-up and was given a new home at Caldwell High School with the opening of the new tennis court complex. Then, Center was able to snub out the Caldwell magic at Area, defeating the Hornets 7-10.

The Lady Yegua volleyball team lost in a marathon heartbreaker to Milano last Friday night in Milano 25-22, 25-23, 19-25, 14-25, 3-15.

Athletes of the Week Bluejay XC Janac won the boys’ varsity race at last week’s District 26-2A Cross County Meet. His time of 19:42 was over 20 seconds faster than Burton’s Devlin Douglass’ second place time of 20:07.
Vela placed third in the girls’ varsity race at last week’s District 26-3A Cross Co u n t r y Me e t to help the Lady Yeguas qualify for the regional meet. Vela finished the race with a time of 13:37.

Lady Jays fall to Milano, Mumford

The Lady Jays had a rough week last week, falling to Milano at home and to Mumford on the road. Last Tuesday, Snook hosted the Lady Eagles, losing to Milano in straight sets 20-25, 14-25, 24-26. Alexis Macik led the offense at the net with three kills.

Burton surges to early lead, beats Snook 54-13

Burton’s explosive, ball-control offense took control early for a big first-half lead and cruised to a 54-13 road win over Snook last Friday.
