Tittle advances to THSPA state powerlifting meet

Caldwell powerlifter Garrett Tittle has punched his ticket to the Texas High School Powerlifting Association’s (THSPA) State Meet. Tittle will be competing in the Class 3A SHW weight class the Division 3 on March 26 at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene.

Caldwell track wins girls, boys titles at Koppers Relays

The Caldwell track team dominated the team scores for both the boys and the girls at last week’s Koppers Relays at Somerville. The Lady Hornets earned the team title with a total score of 194 points, ahead of the second place Lady Yeguas with 94 points.

Caldwell tennis finishes 14th in TTCA tournament

The Caldwell tennis team played in the Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) Class 3A and Under State Team Championship Tournament over the weekend, and finished 14th in the state, going 1-3 at the event in San Antonio. On Friday morning, Caldwell faced Peaster, falling 10-2.

Lady Yeguas, Iola play high-scoring softball game at Bomber Park

In a back-and-forth matchup, the Lady Yeguas’ were able to muster up a few more runs to outscore Iola 23-17. Somerville was down 17-16 in the top of the sixth inning when an Iola error allowed Somerville to score two runs.

Lady Hornets fall to Rogers 21-2

The Lady Hornets struggled to get their offense going against Rogers, falling 21-2. The Lady Eagles got things going early in the first inning when Rian Charanza doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Caldwell’s Aliyah Vela hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first to tie the game up 1-1.

Hornets split four games at Franklin Tournament

The Caldwell Hornets won two and lost two last weekend at the Franklin Tournament, defeating Frankson 6-3, falling to Lorena 6-0 and Bay Area Christian 13-5 and defeating Lampasas 15-1. Caldwell also lost to Lago Vista 8-7 at home on Tuesday, March 8.

Yegua powerlifting wins boys’ Region 4 Division 4 team title

The Somerville boys’ powerlifting team won the Region 4 Division 4 team title at Saratoga last week. The team scored a total of 25 points to win first, over Flatonia with 22 points and Louise with 19 points to earn second and third respectively.
