Lady Hornets lose 2 last week

The Caldwell softball team had a rough time in district last week during Spring Break, falling to both Cameron and Lexington Last Monday, the Lady Hornets were on the road in Cameron, losing to the Lady Yoe 13-8.

Against Lexington last week, Reyes was a perfect 3-of-3 from the plate with a RBI and a walk to help lead Caldwell to a 5-1 win over the Eagles.

Last week, the freshman pitcher earned her 100th strikeout in a 11-9 loss to Mumford. After adding another 15 strikeouts against Iola, as of last week, Becker has a total of 118 strikeouts in a little over 50 innings pitched.

Snook Bluejays struggle in losses to Mumford, 15-0, 6-0

The Snook Bluejays lost twice to Mumford in road games last week -- 15-0 on Tuesday, March 15, and 6-0 on Wednesday. In the Tuesday game, Snook trailed 5-0 in the first inning and surrendered eight runs in the second for a 13-0 deficit.

Snook’s Garcia places 10th at state at powerlifting meet

Snook’s Nadia Garcia placed 10th at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s (THSWPA) State Championships last Wednesday in Corpus Christi. Garcia competes in Class 1A-2A.

Hornets defeat Lexington, fall to Cameron, Bellville

The Caldwell Hornets fell to Cameron 5-3 in a Tuesday, March 15, road game before defeating Lexington on Friday at home 5-1 and then falling on Saturday at home to Bellville, 6-2. Caldwell finished the week with a record of 7-9 overall.

Snooks’ Becker strikes out Number 100 against Mumford

Snook’s Aubrey Becker has accomplished an amazing feat as a freshman -- striking out 100 batters in her short career. In just over 50 innings pitched, she has struck out 118 batters, walking 49 and only allowed 11 earned runs.

Lady Yeguas split with Burton, N. Zulch

The Lady Yeguas played two games last Monday, beating Burton in a blow-out 15-5 and falling to North Zulch 10-7. In the early game, Burton got on the board in the first inning, scoring two.

Four area athletes named to Academic All-State

Three Lady Yeguas and a Hornet were named to the 2021- 2022 Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Basketball Academic All-State Teams last week.
