Arredondo, Garcia qualify for girls state powerlifting

Snook’s Paola Arredondo and Nadia Garcia qualified for the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association (THSWPA) Class 2A State Meet due to their placement at last week’s Region 2 Division 3 Powerlifting Meet.

CHS boys, girls golfers place second

The Caldwell High School boys and girls golf teams each placed second last week in the Cameron Tournament, with Sam Waldrip tying for first and Maegan Schneider placing first in the individual scoring. At the boys tournament on Feb. 28, Waldrip shot an 81, and Nathan Scott shot a season best of 89.

Hornet tennis advances to TTCA state tournament

The Caldwell Hornet tennis team went 3-1 at the Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) regional tournament in Bryan last weekend, placing second and qualifying for the TTCA Class 3A and Under State Team Tennis Tournament in San Antonio and Helotes this weekend, March 11- 12.

After falling to Smithville last Tuesday night 12-2, the Lady Hornets bounced back to go 4-2 at the Franklin Softball Tournament last week. Caldwell first took down Class 3A Number 2 Blooming Grove 4-2.

Hornet track places third at Rockdale Relays

The Hornet track team finished third in the team standings with 69 points at last week’s Rockdale Relays. Eastview took home the team title with 132 points, and Taylor was second with 123. Varsity Boys Those Caldwell Varsity Boys who made the finals are: * 200-meter dash: J. Beck, 23.21, second.

Somerville competes at Smithville Meet

The Somerville track and field team sent runners and throwers to Smithville last week to compete in the Smithville Tiger Relays. Somerville varsity girls who participated were: * 800-meter run: Destiny Vela, fifth, 2:45.06. Addison Waneck of Smithville won this event with a time of 2:33.27.

Lady Yeguas fall to Mexia 9-5

The Lady Yeguas had a rough time at the Franklin Tournament last week, going 0-5. During their first game, the Lady Yeguas fell behind early and wasn’t able to mount a comeback in a 9-5 loss to Mexia on Thursday. Abigail Flencher took the loss for Somerville.

Snook Lady Jays tie A&M Consol JV 5-5

The Lady Jays tied the A&M Consolidated junior varsity team 5-5 during their first game of the Franklin Softball Tournament last week. In the tournament opener, Snook was led by Aubrey Becker at the plate with two hits, including a single and a double with two RBIs.
