Macik throws for gold at Rogers track meet

Snook shot put thrower Alexis Macik earned gold at the Donald Godwin Invitational Track Meet in Rogers last week. She threw the sphere for a distance of 32 feet 6 inches to claim the top spot for the event. Other Snook Varsity Girls who made the finals were: * 3200-meter run: Alisa Ponce, 16:02.

Snook dominates 3rd inning to beat Allen Academy 17-3

The Snook Bluejays varsity boys baseball team defeated Allen Academy 17-3 on Tuesday, March 1, in Snook before losing to Bremond 3-1 and and Rockdale 14-1 at the Thursday, March 3, Bremond Tournament. Against Allen Academy, Snook led 3-1 after two innings before scoring 14 runs in the third inning.

The Caldwell High School tennis team placed second at last week’s Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) Regional Tournament, qualifying the team for the Class 3A and Under TTCA State Tournament. See page 3B for more about the team.

Eagles fly past Yeguas in area round

The Somerville Yegua basketball team’s season ended last Friday at the hands of the Hearne Eagles in front of a packed house -- with the Yeguas falling 73-61. The area match-up was held at Rudder High School in Bryan.

Lady Hornets land six on All-District

Jae Mathis, Andrea Flores and Daisha Denson led the Lady Hornets in District 19- 3A All-District honors after leading the team to a historic season -- reaching the playoffs for the first time since the 1999-2000 school year.

JAMAR HEWITT Hornet Basketball In Caldwell’s bidistrict playoff loss to Franklin, Hewitt posted a doubledouble, scoring 17 points and pulling down 14 total rebounds -- 11 defensive and three offensive.

Caldwell HS tennis wins Thrall team tourney title

The Caldwell High School tennis team won the Thrall Tigers Invitational Varsity Team Championship on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Waylon Chapman and Connor Hughson placed first in boys’doubles. The duo had a bye in the first round before easily beating Chtay and Brown of Salado 8-0.

Hornets fall to Franklin in bi-district round 55-50

Jamar Hewitt had a stellar night on both ends of the court for Caldwell in the Hornets’ 55-50 bi-district loss to Franklin last Tuesday night in Bryan. Hewitt was Caldwell’s leading scorer with 17 points, including three from downtown.
