Lexington’s Kase Evans played in the 2022 Under Armour Futures Game on Jan. 2, in Orlando, Florida -- where 75 of the best eighth-grade football players from across the nation go to train and compete among the best during All-America Game Week.
The game followed the Citrus Bowl.

The Lady Hornets went 1-1 in District 19-3A last week, falling to Little River-Academy on the road 59-12 last Tuesday and beating Florence at home 44-33 last Friday.

Lady Jays begin district with 48-40 loss to Burton

Despite Bre’Asia Louis scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter, the Lady Jays fell in their Distict 26-2A opener 48-40 to Burton at home last Friday night.
Burton took an early six-point lead by the end of the first quarter, extending it to 15 points by halftime (29-14).

CHS defeats Florence for first district win

The Caldwell Hornets controlled the second half to defeat Florence 51-40 last Friday at home for the first district win of the season.
The victory followed a 73-43 road loss to Little River-Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 4, in the district opener.

Hornet soccer ties Bellville to open season

The Hornet soccer team opened up their season with a thrilling game against Bellville at Hornet Stadium last Tuesday, Jan. 4, tying the Brahmas 1-1.
After a hard fought back and forth effort, Bellville got their break through in the 70th minute to lead the Hornets 1-0.
Caldwell did not cave in.

Bellville surges late to defeat Somerville 52-49

The Somerville Yeguas battled hard but came up just short in a 52-49 home loss to Bellville last Tuesday, Jan. 4.
Somerville trailed 14-11 in the first quarter but rallied to tie it at 20-20 at halftime. The Brahmas held a 37-36 edge at the end of the third.

Caldwell High School’s powerlifting season began last Saturday with both the girls and boys competing at the Giddings Invitational Meet.
And, Charly Singleterry, Ivan Granados and Justin Balcar each placed third in their individual weight classes.

The Lady Yeguas fought hard in a 54-45 loss to Iola to open district last Friday night.
Due to injuries, Coach Brandon Colvin only was able to dress six players for the game and was missing three starters -- Halle Stevens, Emma Kovasovic and Destiny Vela.
