Lady Jays easily beat Dime Box in 3 sets

The Lady Jays hosted Dime Box last Friday, handing the Lady Longhorns a straightset defeat 25-14, 25-10, 25-22. Payton Sodolak led the Snook charge at the net with nine kills. Alexis Macik had a great match on both sides of the net with four kills and two blocks.

Snook JH VB falls to Burton

On Monday, Oct. 4, the Snook junior high school volleyball teams both fell to Burton. The Snook “A” Team fell in straight sets 25-10, 25-10. The Snook “B” Team lost to Burton in three sets 25-20, 28-26, 5-15.

Burton dominates in 34-8 road victory at Snook

The Snook Bluejays were looking for a major upset against powerful Burton last Friday at home, but the Panthers’ running game was too much as Snook fell 34-8 for their fifth straight loss. Burton improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district play, while Snook fell to 1-5 and 0-2 in district.

Lady Yeguas fall to #6 Fayetteville

Going into last Friday night’s home match against Somerville, Fayetteville was ranked Number 6 in Class 3A with a 32-1 record -- only losing this season to Number 4 Iola on Sept. 7. And, Friday, the Lady Yeguas were the Lady Lions latest prey, losing to Fayetteville 21-25, 16- 25, 17-25.

CHS JV VB beats Lexington

The Caldwell junior varsity volleyball team traveled to Lexington last week, beating the Lady Eagles in straight sets 25-22, 25-16. The Lady Hornets were led by Kelly Urbanovsky with nine digs, seven assists, two kills and an ace.

Lady Hornet volleyball falls to Lexington

The Lady Hornets only played one match last week and then had their “open” date. However, that one match was against the Lady Eagles of Lexington -- who were undefeated in District 19-3A going into last Tuesday’s match against Caldwell.

Hornets to face rival Rockdale

The Caldwell Hornets will try to break back into the win column this Friday with a road game against rival Rockdale. Caldwell, 2-3 overall and 0-1 in district, had a bye week last week after a 70-0 home loss to Cameron on Sept. 24.

CHS tennis bi-district is Oct. 11

The Caldwell Hornet tennis team will play their Class 4A bidistrict match against Lago Vista on Monday, Oct. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Georgetown Eastview High School. The Hornets finished district play as the second seed for the playoffs, and Lago Vista finished third in their district.
