SKIPPED IT AGAIN -- I’m not sure if you even noticed, but I didn’t have time to write my column again last week. It seems like I will only be able to type something up every two weeks. I’ve been running out of time, running on fumes, about to blow a gasket. Well, you get the idea.

Yeguas’ offense excels in 49-34 district opening win over Milano

The Somerville Yeguas snapped a three-game losing streak and opened district play with a 49-34 road win over Milano last Friday, gaining 476 yards of total offense. The Yeguas rushed for 274 yards and passed for 202 and finished drives consistently while improving to 2-3 overall.

Lady Jay volleyball beats McDade, falls to Richards

The Lady Jays went 1-1 in district play to move to 1-4 in District 26-2A. Snook’s district win was last Tuesday on the road against McDade, beating the Lady Bulldogs in four sets 25-27, 25-19, 25-19, 25-4.

The Lady Hornet cross country team placed second at last week’s Cameron Invitational, hosted by Cameron Yoe High School. Caldwell had a total of 64 points to finish second behind Rogers with 22. Little River Academy was third with 76 points.

Snook battles well on defense, falls 7-6 to Iola

Snook had one of its best defensive efforts, holding Iola to just 172 total yards, but the Bluejays couldn’t get much going offensively in a 7-6 district opening loss to the Bulldogs last Friday. Snook fell to 1-4 overall while rushing for 112 yards and passing for 37.

Cameron’s offensive speed and passing game was too much for Caldwell last Friday as the Yoemen piled up 632 total yards, 545 through the air, in a 70-0 win in Caldwell. The Hornets, slumping after a 2-0 start, fell to 2-3 overall with the districtopening loss.

The Lady Hornets had a tough week last week, losing to district rivals Little River Academy on the road and Cameron Yoe at home. On Tuesday, Caldwell traveled to Little River, falling to the Academy Bumblebees in four sets 15-25, 13-25, 25-21, 20- 25.

Caldwell’s Phillip Jungman earned yet another medal in Men’s Skeet shooting -- this time gold in the Men’s Skeet competition at the National Shotgun Skeet Championship finals The event was held at Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Range.
