Lady Hornet Faust named Newcomer of the Year

With Little River Academy falling to East Bernard in the regional semifinals last weekend, District 19-3A officials released the All-District softball selections on Monday -- with Caldwell’s Caitlyn Faust being named Newcomer of the Year. The Lady Hornet freshman pitched 33.

Summer track June 1

Incoming kindergarten through sixth-graders can sign up for Caldwell ISD’s summer track program. This program will focus on running fundamentals and offer various workouts to instill a passion for track and field. Students will meet from 6-7 p.m.

The Somerville volleyball coaching staff will be holding camps for current and future Lady Yeguas. For the incoming second through sixth-graders, there will be “Little Lady Yeguas Days” on June 7, 21 and 28 from 1-3 p.m. The cost is free.

The Lady Hornet basketball coaching staff will be hosting two camps in June. One camp is for all incoming ninth through 12th-grade girl athletes Monday-Wednesday, June 7-9, from 1-3 p.m. in the high school gym.

Harrison named to honor list at Temple College

Ceyonce Harrison of Caldwell was named to the Vice President’s Honor List for the Spring 2021 semester at Temple College. To be named to the Vice President’s Honor List, a student must take at least nine semester credit hours and earn at least a 3.5 grade point average.

Lady Hornets take third at state tourney

The Caldwell Lady Hornets golf team placed third in the state tournament on May 10- 11 at Shadow Glen in Manor, finishing behind Wall and McGregor. Caldwell finished with a two-day total of 786, while McGregor took second with a 768, and Wall won the state title with a score of 696.

Hornets fall to Troy in two game area playoff to conclude season

The Caldwell Hornets fell to No. 1 ranked Troy in two games in the area playoff series last week by scores of 6-3 and 1-0 in Mumford to conclude their season. Caldwell finished 16-14-1 for the season.

Caldwell Olympian Phillip Jungman competed at the 2021 World Cup in Lonato, Italy, preparing for this summer’s Olympic Stage in Tokyo. The World Cup was held May 7-17.
