Lady Yeguas fall to Snook in rivalry match

The Lady Yeguas had a tough week last week, taking on the Number 2 team in Class 2A, the Burton Lady Panthers, and their county rivals, the Lady Jays.Last Tuesday, Sept. 30, Somerville traveled to Snook, falling to the Lady Jays in four sets 23-25, 25-20, 20-25, 1525.

Snook runs in Belton’s Pro-Fit Last Chance

The Snook cross country team ran in the Pro-Fit Chance Invitational in Belton on Thursday, Oct. 2.Three Bluejay runners ran in the boys 3-mile Class 1A-4A varsity race, with Barrett Dudensing and Ethan Janac finishing 13th and 15th respectively. Barrett Warren was 81st.

Caldwell freshmen VB beats Navasota

The Caldwell freshman volleyball team had a thrilling victory over Navasota last week 2522, 22-25, 15-8.Coach Casey Faske said, “In an intense matchup, the girls rose to the challenge, showing strong teamwork and determination from start to finish.

Yeguas collapse in 2nd half, fall 50-33 to Iola

The Somerville Yeguas took an early 19-14 halftime lead last Friday against Iola at home, but the Bulldogs seized the momentum and took over in the second half, winning 50-33.Somerville fell to 3-2 for the season and 1-1 in district play while Iola improved to 3-2 and 2-0 in league play.

Caldwell High School angler Wyatt Beasley caught the biggest bass at the Texas High School Bass Association’s (THSBA) tournament at Lake Conroe on Oct. 4.Beasley’s big bass weighed in at 7.71 pounds.He caught a total of five fish on the day, for a total catch weight of 19.
