Snook struggles in 42-6 opening loss to NBCA

Snook moved the football at times and got into the red zone but strugged with finishing drives in a 42-6 opening loss to New Braunfels Christian Academy last Friday in Snook.Snook competed well in the early going, with the offensive line opening holes and the Bluejays pushing the ball downfield.

In Caldwell’s first football game of the season, Burns passed for 71 yards and a TD with no interceptions. He also ran for 120 yards and three TDs on eight carries.

Lady Yeguas beat Hempstead in four sets

Last week, the Lady Yeguas were on the road, with their first stop in Normangee and then a Friday night stop in Hempstead.Last Tuesday in Normangee, Somerville fell in straight sets 11-25, 17-25, 17-25.Emma Williams led the Lady Yeguas with five kills.

The Lady Hornets JV volleyball team went 1-1 last week, defeating Madisonville last Tuesday on the road and falling to Thrall Friday at home.Against Madisonville, Caldwell started out by losing Set 1 16-25, but bounced back in Sets 2 and 3, defeating the Lady Mustangs 25-20, 15-11.

All three area schools were out at the John E. Hejl Park at Davidson Creek in Caldwell on Saturday for the annual Caldwell Cross Country Invitational Meet.And, Caldwell’s own Spencer Ellis finished second in the varsity boys race with a time of 10:20.
