The Lady Hornets had a rough week last week, losing to district foes Smithville on Tuesday on the road and La Grange at home on Friday.In Smithville, Caldwell fell 4-2, but scored first in the top of the first off a Jillian Vykukal single.

ATHLETES of the WEEKLast week at the District 26-2A Track Meet, Dudensing won both the boys1,600-meter and3,200 meter races -- the 1,600-meter with a time of 4:59.93 and the3,200-meter with a time of 10:57.14.

Lady Yeguas fall to Milano 4-0

Milano took an early 2-0 in the top of the second and didn’t look back for a 4-0 win over Somerville last Tuesday night in Somerville.Lady Eagle Karley Hairston connected on a full-count double to put Milano on the scoreboard in the second.

Lady Yeguas hold off late Lady Jay charge to win 6-5

In great rivalry fashion, the Lady Yeguas hold off a bottom of the seventh inning rally to beat the Lady Jays in Snook 6-5.Somerville got on the board first in the top of the first when Karys Ellis scores on an error.

Caldwell JH track runs at district in La Grange

Caldwell Junior High track competed in the middle school district meet in La Grange last Monday, March 31.The eighth-grade boys finished fourth in the team standings with a total of 59 points.Bellville won the team title with 296 points.

Lady Jays fall to Mumford 12-2

Mumford scored nine runs in the third inning to help lead the Lady Mustangs to a 12-2 win over Snook last Tuesday, April 1.Snook scored first off a first inning wild pitch, however Mumford took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the frame off a J. Bucknum single.

Snook wins 2 games over rival Somerville

The Snook Bluejays broke into the win column with a pair of victories over county rival Somerville last week -- an 8-7 home win on Friday following a wild 22-16 road win on April 1.Snook, who fell to Milano 20-0 on Monday, April 7, entered this week 2-11 overall and 2-7 in district play.

Caldwell HS girls take 2nd at district golf tourney

The Caldwell Lady Hornets golf team placed second and the boys placed third at the District 22 4A golf tournament on March 31-April 1 at Pecan Lakes in Navasota.The Lady Hornets advanced to the 4A Region III Tournament on April 14-15 at Bearkat Course in Huntsville.

Hornet track makes buzz at district meet

The Lady Hornets finished fourth in the team standings at last week’s District 22-4A Track Meet in Giddings.Caldwell completed the two-day event with a total of 93 points.Host team Giddings won the team title with a score of 208 points.
