Lady Yeguas fall to Burton, Milano

The Lady Yeguas had a rough week in district play, falling to both Number 10 Burton and Milano.Last Tuesday in Burton, Somerville could not muster much offense, falling to the Lady Panther 14-0.

Yeguas fall to Brenham freshmen, RTC Cubs

The Somerville Yeguas lost to the Brenham Freshmen 11-2 on Tuesday, March 4, and to Round Top-Carmine on Monday, 14-9, in Carmine.Somerville fell to 1-4-1 with the losses.Against Brenham, Somerville trailed 7-0 after three innings before the Yeguas added a run in the top of the fourth.

Yeguas win Koppers Relays 2025 title

Somerville High School hosted its annual Koppers Relays last week, and the Yeguas got to keep the varsity boys’ meet trophy at home by winning the team title with 221 points.Burton came in second with 174 points, and Snook was third with 100 points.

Lady Hornets go 3-0 at home last week

The Lady Hornets had three home games last week and improved their season record with three wins.Caldwell started off its victory series with a 14-6 win over Bryan.Jaelynn Gest was 3-of-4 at the plate, including a solo home run to left field to lead off the bottom of the first inning.

Hornets go 2-2 at Franklin Tournament

The Caldwell Hornets won two and lost two last weekend at the Franklin Tournament.Caldwell, now 7-3 for the year, lost to Lorena 8-3 on Thursday, March 6, defeated Franklin 3-2, also on Thursday, lost to Palestine 6-4 on Friday, March 7, and then defeated Killeen Shoemaker 9-3 on Saturday, March 8.

Snook’s Jaycie Brisco was recently named to the American Southwest Conference women’s basketball All-Conference Team.The former Lady Jay was an All-Conference First Team selection and was also named to this season’s All-Defensive Team.

Last Tuesday night, March 4, Snook softball pitcher Aubrey Becker hit yet another milestone: her 800th career strikeout as a Lady Jay.

Snook, Somerville players make All-District teams

Three Snook players and two Somerville players earned All-District 26-2A first and second team honors, and three players from each team were named to the honorable mention team.For the first team, Brett Withem and Max Carter of Snook were named along with Ja’Keith Daniels of Somerville.
