Yeguas finish with 32-0 loss to Junction

The Somerville Yeguas ended its most memorable season in modern history with a 32-0 loss to Junction in the regional quarterfinal last Friday in Pflugerville.Somerville finished 11-2 overall as a district, bi-district and area champion -- their best finish in four decades.

Snook stays unbeaten with two more wins

The Snook Bluejays continued their unbeaten run last week with some strong and timely defense in a 60-17 home win over Valley Mills on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and a 62-52 road win over Flatonia on Nov. 25.

Lady Hornets beat Milano

Last week, the Lady Hornet basketball team was in action even though most students had the week off for Thanksgiving.Caldwell played two games last week: one on Monday and another on Tuesday, with the Lady Hornets earning a 32-25 win over Milano to start the week last Monday.

Lady Jays beat Fayetteville

Even though school was out all week last week, many of the county’s high school basketball teams were still playing games -- including the Snook Lady Jays.Last Monday, Nov. 25, Snook traveled to Fayetteville to play a morning game, defeating the Lady Lions 40-36.

Chris Deere of the Somerville Yeguas had 5 solo tackles and 8 assists in the Yeguas’ playoff game against Junction last Friday.Deere is a junior and had a strong season on the Yegua defense this year.Somerville finished 11-2 for the year and won a district title.

Caldwell residents represent at Texas Ranch Horse Championships

Kelly and Sabine Lazo of Caldwell represented Burleson County at the Texas Ranch Horse Championships in Athens last weekend, Friday Nov. 22 to Sunday Nov. 24.
