I once read that America is more than a country— that it is an idea, a dream, an opportunity. I did not fully understand the depth of that statement until I moved away and began living and working in other countries. As a nation, we are by no means perfect.

To me, America is a sense of freedom. Living in Burleson County my entire life, my view of this country is shaped by open pastures, hard work, and a sense of community.

Serving in the military gave me the opportunity to see a lot of the world, and to live in different countries. Hands down, I’d never choose to live anywhere but here.
