Union, Liberty, Cooks Point school reunion

The reunion for former students from Union, Liberty and Cooks Point schools will be held at the Surrey Inn Four Tines Restaurant, located at 403 East State Highway 21 in Caldwell on Saturday, July 18.Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m., and a buffet meal will be served at noon.
THE ANNUAL LAW Enforcement Appreciation Banquet was held last Thursday, and four employees at local agencies were recognized for their service to Burleson County. Those honored included Lieutenant Al Horak with the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office, Service Above Self Award; Tanya Muzny with Caldwell PD, Support Person of the Year; Patrol Officer Nancy Cowen with Caldwell PD, Charles Sebesta Peace Officer of the Year; and Deputy Bern Collum with the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office, Rookie of the Year.

Horticulture conference set for July 13-14 in San Marcos

Locals graduate Texas Connections Academy

Keagan Hardy and Jocelyn Hooper, both of Burleson County, were among 1,250 students to graduate from Texas Connections Academy during a commencement ceremony at the University of Houston Ferttita Center on June 5.

Area students named to SHSU President’s List

Kaylee Frank and Victoria Jones, both of Caldwell, and Jessica Ross of Somerville were all named to the President’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2026 semester at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.Students on the President’s List are undergraduates who have achieved a perfect 4.

Local students named to SHSU Dean’s List

Daisha Denson, Kaylee Frank, Brook Fry and Victoria Jones, all of Caldwell, and Paula De La Cruz, Savannah Henning, Briona-Nicole Hudson and Jessica Ross, all of Somerville, were named to the Dean’s List of Academic Honors for the Spring 2026 semester at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

Groundwater Summit registration is now open

This year’s annual Groundwater Summit was shaped by public input and is built around one big question: What happens when growth moves faster than the plans built to manage it?The Summit will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Caldwell Civic Center.
