Republicans ‘meet and greet’ their primary candidates

Burleson County Republicans heard from candidates in the upcoming primary elections for local and statewide positions at the Burleson County Republican Party’s Candidate “Meet and Greet,” held at the Caldwell Civic Center on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

County sales tax shows decrease in February

Sales tax revenues showed a decrease for February 2026 from February 2025 for Burleson County in Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock’s latest monthly report.However, the City of Snook was the only entity to show an increase for February.

Burleson County 4-Hers win landscape design contest

Burleson County 4-H members brought home top honors in the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Landscape Design Contest for the sixth time in recent years, taking the grand champion title and a team scholarship.

Somerville Education Foundation raises money with gala event

The Somerville Education Foundation held its second “Winter Gala” on Saturday, with all the glitz and glamour to make one forget that it was held inside of the Somerville Elementary Cafetorium.

Main Street treats downtown to Chocolate, Champagne, Cake Walk

The Friends of Caldwell Main Street’s second annual Chocolate, Champagne and Cake Walk event was a success, bringing in about 75 visitors to the downtown area on Saturday, Feb. 14, despite rain in the forecast.“The event did help with sales,” Tracy Pieper, Friends of Main Street chair, said.

VFW honors local VOD, Patriot’s Pen award winners

The Caldwell VFW Post No. 4458 has recognized Caldwell High School senior Emma Davis as the recipient of its Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Award, and Caldwell Junior High’s Grayson Behler as winner of its Patriot’s Pen written essay contest.The winners were recognized on Thursday, Feb.

City, school election filings have concluded

Filing has ended for those wishing to run for city councils and school boards.Filing ended on Friday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m.The election for open city council and school board positions will be Saturday, May 2.Caldwell City Council will have two seats up for election: those held by Jessie Enrique, Jr.
