Dorthy Ann Schoenemann

Dorthy Ann Schoenemann, 81, of Caldwell, passed away peacefully at her home in Caldwell on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, with her family by her side.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Cooks Point Brethren Church with Rev. Rhonda Johnson officiating. The burial followed at the Cooks Point Cemetery.

Dorthy was born in Washington County, Texas, to Otto and Elene Streich on June 30, 1941.

Dorthy had fond memories of growing up with her little brother, James, in the Brenham area. She remembered running through the fields of Independence with church steeples painting the countryside. Dorthy was a fierce protector of her brother and loved him dearly.

Dorthy attended and was confirmed at St. Mark Lutheran Church on May 20, 1956.

She married the love of her life, David Ray Schoenemann, on November 19, 1960. Dorthy and David were the first couple to marry in the Cooks Point Brethren Church, and to this union, four children were born.

Dorthy took great pride in her career as a legal secretary. She worked for the Texas A&M University General Council for most of her working career after first devoting her earlier years to raising her children and teaching them many life lessons.

Dorthy is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Elene; as well as her stepfather, Ed Garlin.

Dorthy is survived by her husband, David Ray Schoenemann Sr.; her brother, James Streich; daughter, Donna Schoenemann and fiancé, Karl Jakubik, Diane and husband, Albert Surovik Jr., David Schoenemann Jr. and wife, Jeannie, and Denise and her husband, Don Rigler.

Grand Mommie is also survived by her eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was so incredibly proud of her grandchildren, Ryan Surovik, Emily Murski, Maddy Dicks, Allison Rigler, David “Snap” Schoenemann III, Chloe Harris, and Savannah Buchanan. And the sun rose and set on her five great-grandbabies she counted as blessings daily including Leighton Surovik, Lochlan Surovik, Josie Murski, Mais Murski, and Bryce Buchanan.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Dorthy’s “Dream Team.” These women truly loved and cared for our mother as if she were their own mother. Carrie Scitern, Becky Harris, Karen Rubio, Rosemary Jackson, and Candice Lovett. You are loved and appreciated.

Mom was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Cooks Point Brethren Church.

Pallbearers: Albert “PeeWee” Surovik Jr., Don Rigler, Karl Jakubik, Ryan Surovik, David “Snap” Schoenemann III, Zach Murski, Bronson Dicks and Lochlan Surovik.
