Groesbeck outscores Caldwell in scrimmage

The Caldwell Hornets were outscored by Groesbeck 2-0 in a Friday, Aug. 21, scrimmage in Groesbeck.In a live quarter, Groesbeck also outscored Caldwell 14-10.Caldwell’s score was on a 24-yard pass from John Fryrear to Logan Carter with Braden Licea adding the PAT.

CHS team tennis starts season at 1-1

After a 2-17 loss to Groesbeck in Caldwell’s season opener, the Caldwell team tennis team bounced back to win their district opener 15-4 over Rockdale at home.In boys doubles, the Hornets swept the Tigers going 3-0 with dominating play.

Lady Hornets play in Huntsvile Tournament

The Lady Hornets are 6-12 for the season after going 3-5 in the Huntsville Tournament last week.On Thursday, Caldwell began with a 13-25, 17-25 loss to Harker Heights.Kierstyn Macik led Caldwell with three kills.Then, the Lady Hornets fell to host team Huntsville 14-25, 19-25.

Hornet, Yegua cross country runs in Midnight Sun XC Meet

Both Caldwell and Somerville ran in the Midnight Sun Cross Country Meet in Cameron last week, and two Hornet runners placed in the Top 10 in the varsity boys 4,000-meter run: Landon Vykukal and Tyler Muzny.Vykukal placed seventh with a time of 14:57.64, and Muzny was ninth with a time of 15:01.96.

Dudensing places 7th at Coach Giese XC Meet

A&M Consolidated High School held its first ever Coach Giese XC Meet at the College Station CTE Center on Aug. 22, and Snook’s Barrett Dudensing placed seventh in the boys 2-mile run for small schools.

Lady Jays beat Hempstead

The Lady Jays earned their first win of the volleyball season, beating Hempstead last Tuesday night, Aug. 18, on the road 25-14, 20-25, 25-22, 25-11.No stats were available at press time.As of Monday, Aug. 24, Snook is 1-15 for the season.

Yeguas scored 3 TDs in 3-way scrimmage

The Somerville Yeguas scored three TDs last Friday against Mc-Gregor and Rosebud-Lott in a three-way scrimmage in Mc-Gregor.The Yeguas had 50 plays of offense, 40 plays of segmented sections and 10 plays in a live quarter.
