Lady Hornets fall to Navasota, Smithville

On Tuesday, Jan. 13, the Lady Hornets hosted Navasota, falling to the Lady Rattlers 37-30.Mayzi Witherwax led Caldwell in scoring with 13 points.Other scorers for Caldwell were: Ireland Morgan, eight points; Kaely Brown, four points; Hannah Rae Clark, three points; Lydia Hicks, two points.

Snook beats Bremond, loses at Mumford

The Snook Bluejays split their district games last week on the road, defeating Bremond 3828 on Tuesday and falling to Mumford 46-21 on Friday.Snook finished the week 17-8 overall and 2-2 in district play.

Caldwell defeats Smithville 68-25

The Caldwell Hornets took control early with a strong offensive surge and defeated Smithville 68-25 last Friday in their district opener in Caldwell.Caldwell led 17-7 in the first quarter, 37-12 at halftime and 49-25 in the third.The Hornets posted a 19-0 shutout in the final period.

Lady Yeguas stumble against Burton

The Lady Yeguas traveled to Burton last Friday, falling to the Lady Panthers 60-13.Burton outscored Somerville in all four quarters, though the Lady Yegua defense held Burton to only 11 points in the fourth.

The Lady Hornets opened district play on the road last Friday night in Bellville, falling to the Brahmanettes 37-29.Hannah Rae Clark was Caldwell’s top scorer in the game with 11 points.

Slow starts costly for Caldwell in Brazos, Troy losses

The Caldwell Hornets lost their final two nondistrict games last week, 69-33 on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at home and 71-59 at Troy.Against Brazos, the Hornets got off to a slow start, and the Cougars dominated the second and third quarters.Caldwell trailed 18-12 in the first quarter and 38-19 at halftime.
