In a low-scoring, strong pitching game, Mumford was able to muster a 3-1 win over the Lady Yeguas. Emma Williams started the game for Somerville and recorded 18 outs.

Yeguas win 2 over RTC, get to 4-4 in district

The Somerville Yeguas won a two-game series with Round Top-Carmine last week by scores of 10-4 and 12-0 to improve to 4-4 in district play. The Yeguas, 5-9 overall, won at RTC on Tuesday, April 2, and then defeated the Cubs 12-0 at home on Friday, April 5.

Lady Hornets outscore last week’s opponents 31-2

The Lady Hornet bats remain on fire, outscoring Taylor and Giddings last week 31-2 to remain undefeated in District 22-4A with only three games remaining on the district schedule as of press time. Last Tuesday, the Lady Ducks flew into Caldwell, but were met by two home runs by Avery Smith -- homering in the third and fourth inning -- and Caitlyn Faust throwing a one-hitter.

Snook, Somerville each win 1 in 2-game series

Snook and Somerville split their games in a district double header last week in Snook, with Snook taking game one 15-5 and Somerville winning 17-7 in the second game. In game one in Snook, the Bluejays rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the bottom of the second inning with 4 runs to take a 5-4 lead over Somerville.

Caldwell Hornets 4-0 with Taylor, Manor New Tech wins

The Caldwell Hornets defeated Taylor 4-3 last Thursday in 10 innings and Manor New Tech 11-1 on Monday in home games to remain unbeaten in district play. Caldwell, 11-7-1 overall and now 4-0 in district play, again won with strong pitching and defense.

Lady Hornets finish district Round 1 undefeated

The Lady Hornets came away with two wins last week to end the first round of district with a record of 5-0. On Monday, the ladies traveled to La Grange, and after seven innings of nail-biting softball the score was still tied at 0-0.

Lady Jays blank Normangee 15-0

Lead by an Aubrey Becker no-hitter and a Marissa Batiste perfect 3-for-3, including a double with four runs scored, the Lady Jays easily soared past Normangee at home last Thursday 15-0 in four innings.
