The first round of Hornet Tennis Camp is in the books, with campers learning more about the sport and honing in their skills. There will be three more camps: * June 30-July2 * July 22-24 * July 29-31 Each camp will have two sessions: * Session 1: third-sixth grades, 8:30-10 a.m.

Eight of 12 teams from the Texas Basketball Association (TBA) played in Snook last Saturday.All but one team calls Texas “home” -- a team from El Reno, Oklahoma: OKC Servants, which hosted Ultra Instinct in Oklahoma on Saturday.Also, Cook Up forfeited to Wildcats and did not play Saturday.
AUBREY KOVASOVIC, RIGHT, was the recipient of the Somerville High School Athletic Remy Award for a girl athlete and was named the girls’ Athlete of the Year along with Annette Reyna (not pictured.) Kovasovic is pictured with Averie Hernandez who was the SHS Defensive MVP for volleyball along with Aubrey Flencher.

Somerville High School athletes in all sports were recognized at the recent athletic banquet.Colt Holton was recognized as Male Athlete of the Year, and Aubrey Kovasovic and Anette Reyna were named Female Athletes of the Year.

With the end of school, parents of Little League athletes may find themselves going to tournaments if their child was named to one of the Burleson County All-Star teams.And, Texas East District 13 Little League All-Star play began on May 30 for Burleson County softball.

Back in mid-May, Snook ISD honored its athletes with a banquet and named Brett Withem and Dakota Kienow its Overall MVPs for the 2024-2025 school year.Both Withem and Kienow excelled in athletics for the Bluejays and Lady Jays.
