Woman charged in assault case

A Pflugerville woman was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 8, on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in connection with a man suffering a head injury on Lakeside Drive at Cade Lake.

Man injured in truck, 18-wheeler wreck on SH 36

A Caldwell area man was injured on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4, when his pickup collided with the back of a stopped 18-wheel tractor- trailer rig on State Highway 36, south of Caldwell.The accident, occurring just south of the Burleson County Cowboy Church, occurred at 3:06 p.m.

Travel trailer burns down on CR 430

A large fifth-wheel travel trailer was destroyed on Monday afternoon, Sept. 9, in a fire off County Road 430 near Somerville, but two people inside got out with no injuries.The cause of the fire remains unknown, although it could possibly be electrical, said Somerville Fire Chief Wayne Wilhelm.

Woman injured in wreck on F.M. 166

A Caldwell woman was injured on Wednesday, Sept. 4, in a one-car accident on F.M. 166 and taken by ambulance to a Caldwell hospital.The accident occurred at 7:48 a.m. when Edna Mae Emond, 66, was westbound in a blue, 2020 Honda Insight car, according to a DPS report.

Jail gets notice from state

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office was recently issued a notice of non-compliance for the county jail by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.The finding was issued after the jail commission’s review following an inmate’s death from natural causes on July 7.
