Dolores Reyes Barrera

Dolores Reyes Barrera, 95, peacefully passed away on January 16, 2026, at her residence in Caldwell, due to natural causes.

Born on April 6, 1930, in Gay Hill, she was the cherished daughter of Miguel Reyes and Refugia Hernandez.

Throughout her life, Dolores held various jobs, but her greatest fulfillment came from being a devoted mother and grandmother.

She lived a life anchored in faith and guided by God’s Word. She loved the Lord with all her heart and wanted to honor Him with every part of her life. She was a living example of Christ’s love, always willing to serve others with grace.

Dolores found great joy in bird watching, tending to her cats, caring for her grandchildren and preparing tamales.

Known for her dependability, she ensured that all tamale orders were delivered one day to the next!

Dolores wasn’t just a mother nor a grandmother, she was the guiding light, the source of unconditional love and the heart of her family.

She had an extraordinary ability to make each of us feel special and understood. With just a look, she could comfort us; with a hug, she could make our troubles melt away.

Her strength was our foundation. She showed us the power of her kindness, the importance of family, and the strength found in love.

Her love extended beyond the family. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, turning strangers into friends with her warmth and genuine interest in their lives. She was the anchor, not only for her family but for the community in which she lived.

She leaves behind a legacy of grace and faith. Her light will forever shine in the lives she has touched.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; and three sons, Pete Roman, Mike Reyes, and Martin Reyes.

She is survived by her Brother, Basilio Reyes; Children, Lenora Gonzales, Ruth Barrera, Debra and Benny Cass, Rick Barrera, Rosemary Landolt, and Susan and Dale Mott, all from Caldwell, Michael Barrera and Andrew Barrera of San Antonio; along with 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren that she loved very much with her whole heart and soul.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
