JENNA LAFON

A memorial service for Jenna LaFon will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Somerville.

Mrs. LaFon died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020.

Jenna Lee Cromer Russell LaFon was born on May 29, 1931, in Dallas to Zella Estelle Hodges Cromer and Walter Franklin Cromer.

Jenna graduated from Terry Elementary, Forest Avenue High School, and Draughon’s Business College in Dallas and started her working career at S.W. Bell Telephone Company in Dallas, San Antonio and San Francisco.

She returned to Dallas and began employment with General Motors Acceptance Corporation in 1955, transferring to Amarillo, and on to Houston, where she spent 33 years before retiring.

Jenna met her loving husband, Scott LaFon, in Somerville in 1993, and they spent 25 years of love and devotion together.

Jenna loved the Lord and loved to sing His Praises as choir member and soloist at First Baptist Church in Somerville.

She would always say, “I want to be in God’s Heavenly Choir in the soprano section.”

She loved Christmas, Easter, and animals, especially cats, her own and feral cats.

It was said her presence could light up the darkest room, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Jenna is survived by her husband, Scott LaFon; her sister, Pat Harnburg; her niece, Lauren, and husband, Casey Shaw; her nephew, Rick Hornsburg, and wife, Becky; and her great-nephew, Cooper Shaw, of whom she was extremely proud.
