Robert Wayne Hobbs, Sr., 57 of Caldwell, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 27, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bryan, Texas, and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bobby was born in 1963 in Brenham, Texas, and graduated from high school in Somerville, Texas, in 1981.
After attending Blinn Junior College, he went to work for his father at J&H Food Market in Caldwell, eventually taking over that business. While there he gave a fortune in Taylor Red Wieners away to many children in Caldwell.
He later owned and operated Westside Meat Market in Caldwell and spent the last decade as the butcher at Readfield Meats & Freezer Service in Bryan, Texas.
In his spare time, he loved being outdoors, woodworking hobbies, and spending time with his family and friends.
For years, it was an annual ritual for he and his friends to attend the Texas State High School basketball tournament in Austin.
He was an avid gardener, raising a beautiful and productive vegetable garden during each season of the year.
He also loved to fish and hunt, and fish trembled when they heard the name Hobbs.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Wayne Jr., of Caldwell, Texas, and Austin, of College Station, Texas; and his daughter, Faith, of Bryan, Texas; his father, Wayne, of Caldwell, Texas; his sisters, Pamela Kay Milner and her husband, John, and Debra Hobbs of Caldwell, Texas; his nieces, Nicole Ofczarzak-Enckhausen and her husband, Robert, of Granbury, Texas, and Holly Schoppe Legg and her husband, Joshua, of Caldwell, Texas; his nephews, Clark Milner and his wife, Caroline, of Nashville, Tenn., and Washington, D.C., and Grant Milner and his wife, Rebecca, of Columbia, Mo.; his great-nieces, Ava Enckhausen, Cora Legg, Abbey Enckhausen, and Evelyn Milner; his great-nephews, Cooper Enckhausen and Ridge Legg; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Patricia Hobbs of Caldwell, Texas; his grandparents, Floyd and Barbara Hobbs of Burr, Texas, and Robert and Marietta Blum of Brenham, Texas.
The Hobbs are a close family and Bobby spent many happy hours hunting, fishing, playing ball, and eating meals with his beloved family members and friends.
Bobby was a kind and generous man, always thinking, caring for and giving to others instead of himself.
He was especially proud of his children and loved them with all of his heart.
Many friends had to listen as he shared and even bragged about their many accomplishments.
He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and tried to live that in his daily actions.
At the same time, he also had a quick wit and sharp sense of humor, both about himself and anyone within range of him.
Regardless, if you knew him, you loved him, and if Bobby knew you, he loved you.
Bobby’s work here is done. He received a call, an offer he could not refuse, for an appointment from which he will not return. This call comes with a huge bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time but will rejoice with in eternity.
