A memorial service for Tommy Joe Wetterman, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at Harmony Baptist Church on State Highway 36 North, eight miles from Caldwell.
A graveside service for interment of his ashes will be held at a later date.
Tommy Joe Wetterman was born on May 12,1943.
Mr. Wetterman died on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at a very early age and lived his entire life for Him.
He was a good, caring, sweet man who always saw the good in everyone, and he loved everyone, family members said.
Tom worked as a diesel mechanic, police officer, and in information technology.
He was self-taught in computer programming and had a successful career.
He was employed by Lufkin Telephone Exchange and was the Data Processing Manager there for many years. His last position, before retirement, was as Information Technology Manager at Gooseneck Trailer in Bryan.
He could fix or repair almost anything mechanical, in construction or electrical, make furniture, clocks and could even sew clothes.
He was the center of our family and we depended on him for everything, family members said. His word was his bond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Louise Wolfe Wetterman; his brother, B. L. (Bobby) Wetterman; and his sister, Anita Miller; his father- and mother-law, Leslie and Maurine Marshall Lowe; and his brother-in-law, L. D. (Les) Lowe.
Tom is survived by his wife of 57 plus years, Betty Wetterman; his son, Ed Wetterman (Tracey); his daughters, Stephanie Wetterman, Samantha Wetterman, and Charlotte Ann Horelica; and his brother, James Wetterman (Mary); his brotherin-law, Hugh Miller; his sisters-in-law, Helen Lowe and Annie Wetterman; his grandchildren, David Wetterman (Maegan), Kevin Wetterman, Kayla Wetterman Horelica, Jennifer Horelica, and Melissa Pimm; two great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. They will all miss their Poppy Tom.
